1917 Movie Review, Cinematically Unique But Lacking In Something

The movie was definitely one of the best cinematic experiences I have had in a long time. From a filming angle, the entire film showed a true face of WW1 that is not often seen on the big screen. It was dark, gritty, realistic, and true turn showing the reality of what happens during the first world war. That is probably why I love this film.

The issues arise when the story becomes unbelievable. From the never hitting germans, the plot seemed weak. Although the movie had strong visuals and was stunning the plot just seemed a little stretch, but maybe that was the point. War stories tend to turn into tall tales and from what I know of the background from this film this was based on stories told of the war. If that is true then many of my issues with this piece make more sense and can be forgiven.

I would not go so far as to call it the best film of the year, it is far too early to say that. That being said it is one of the better films I have seen in a while and I would recommend that any interested fans check it out while it is still on the big screen.

Review: 7/10 Stars

Plot – 4/10

Filming: 9/10

Feeling: 8/10
